On Friday June 17, 2011 United Airlines suffered a major computer outage that left millions of travelers stranded in cities all across the United States.
The major airline carrier took to twitter around 1 PM to announce that their computers had unexpectedly crashed therefore they were unable to process any flights arriving or leaving airports nationwide.
When asked if the company’s computers were hacked or was it a simple technical difficulty, United Airlines’s representatives refused to answer, only revealing that they were working hard on resolving the matter.
After 5 hours, some passengers were told that they were flying to their destinations while others were advised to rent a hotel room in the city that they were grounded in.
Needless to say hundreds of clients took to Twitter to vent their frustration and anger for waiting in lines, terminals for so long without a clear explanation as to what was actually going on.
